The Griffith's Primary Valuation of Ireland and parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials are perhaps the two most important sources for genealogical research in Ireland. This book helps make a search of these records more rewarding. By listing the commencement dates of all parish registers, Mitchell makes it now possible to identify all churches located in every civil parish in Ireland. In other words, a researcher using Griffith's can identify the churches of all denominations and the beginning date of their registers, making the Griffith's and the parish records compatible.
This book also reconciles the map reference numbers in the maps accompanying the Householders Index and the New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland by Mitchell (Genealogical Publishing, 1986} so that the book can also be used with the atlas as well.
