Irish Emigration Library

The Irish Emigration Library is housed in the historic Irish Cultural and Heritage Center (ICHC) near downtown Milwaukee. The ICHC is home to several Irish cultural organizations and hosts a variety of musical social events, danceperformances, theatrical productions, public lectures and classes. The Irish Emigration Library at the ICHC is sponsored and operated by the Irish Genealogical Society of Wisconsin (IGSW). The ICHC is located at 2133 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53233.

We invite you to explore your Irish origins with us. The Library is free and open to the public.

Our doors are open on the third Wednesday of every month from 3:00 until 6:00 pm. Extra time can be extended up to 8:00 pm with a previous appointment. Call 414-395-0489 or send an email to igswis@gmail.com to arrange an extension.

The Library is also open by appointment at other times of the month. Appointments are contingent on the availability of our volunteer staff and the ICHC building. (ICHC is closed on Monday and sometimes is unavailable due to large functions.) To arrange an appointment please contact the Irish Emigration Library at 414-395-0489 or at igswis@gmail.com.

If you have a question if the Library will be open on a Wednesday due to weather conditions or for any other reason, please call the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center at 414-345-8800 for more information.
